Maustekastikkeessa


I bought 2 tins of Maustekastikkeessa made by Boy when visiting Helsinki in March 2007. We finally opened one tin to try - and the first taste was awful. So we have been consulting our Finnish friends about how to eat Maustekastikkeessa. People say it's good with potato or bread or salad.

Juha provided 3 suggestions:
1) salad:
Maustekastikkeessa + feta cheese + black olives + celery + onion
2) salad or a warm meal:
Maustekastikkeessa + potato + cucumber + mayonnaise + garlic
3) a warm meal:
mesh potato + garlic + Maustekastikkeessa + balsamic vinegar + olive oil.

In the end, we tried this improvised recipe:
homemade garlic mayonnaise + celery + red onion + Maustekastikkeessa





And this can be the filling of a sandwich - Yummy!!!
